Grounds:
Victorian style house on 30 acre farm in rural Madison County Kentucky, just minutes from Lexington, Richmond, Winchester and Berea. Quiet, relaxing farm setting welcome individuals, couples, families and groups for getaways and retreats. Relax on the front porch or deck on sunny days or by the fire on wintry days. Trails for hiking and benches and chairs for resting are placed around the farm. There are two waterfalls on the property and the Otter Creek can be seen and heard from the front porch. The Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center is a working goat farm with baby goats born each May/June that can be held and fed. Abundant wildflowers adorn the paths in spring, summer and fall. Varieties of birds can be seen at the bird feeders and around the farm, include the Great Blue Heron that lives on the Otter Creek.
Spiritual Director:
Blue Heron Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center serves those seeking personal and group retreats. A schedule of directed retreats can be found on our Facebook page.
We also offer individual Spiritual Direction, provided by a Certified Spiritual Director, Lisa Gammel Maas. She is certified in the Art of Spiritual Direction with Sycamore Spirituality Center, which is a three year intensive interfaith program. She is also trained in small group facilitation and has a true passion for group and retreat work. While Lisa is a member of the Christian Church, DOC, her work is intentionally interfaith, embracing the wisdom present in many traditions. She is especially interested in helping others savor and respond to the Divine by exploring their own creativity. Lisa is also an experienced and vibrant retreat leader. She is a student of Healing practices. It is her joy to live and love and experience the Every Day Sacred with her husband, two children, one dog, two cats and four backyard chickens. She is a writer, photographer, antique dealer, gardener, and needlework and interior design enthusiast. Contact Lisa at lisamaas@gmail.com or 859-396-4819 and visit her blog, www.readinclover.com
“A spiritual director can help you expand your gaze…to see God’s Spirit active in places you may not otherwise expect. People who come to direction are often surprised to discover how actively they are involved with the Divine.”
We are glad to coordinate time with a Spiritual Director for you during your stay. Please let us know in advance of your stay so it can be scheduled. Spiritual Direction is charged on an hourly basis.
